Success Story: HHF’s Role in Resolving a Jewelry Theft Case in Gooty
Introduction
At Helping Hands Foundation (HHF), we believe in standing by those who seek
justice, especially when they face challenges in navigating complex legal and
administrative systems. One such case that highlights our commitment is the
jewelry theft incident involving Mrs. Lakshmi Devi, a 56-year-old woman from
Tirupati, who was robbed of her precious gold ornaments during a train journey
in April 2022. Today, we are proud to share the success story of how HHF played
a pivotal role in ensuring justice for Mrs. Lakshmi Devi.
The
Incident
On 8th April 2022, Mrs. Lakshmi Devi and her husband were traveling
on Train No. 12769 (Seven Hills Special) from Tirupati to Secunderabad. During
the journey, while the train was halted near Turakapalli Railway Station due to
signal clearance, unknown offenders snatched her gold ornaments, including:
- A 36-gram
gold chain,
- A 24-gram
Nallapusala gold chain, and
- A Lakshmi Dollar with two small gold pipes, totaling 63.25 grams worth ₹1,26,000.
The incident left Mrs. Lakshmi Devi devastated, and she immediately reported the crime to the Government Railway Police Station (GRPS), Gooty, on 9th April 2022.
HHF’s
Persistent Efforts
Mrs. Lakshmi Devi approached HHF in August 2023, seeking assistance
as she felt her case was not progressing. Despite her repeated attempts to
contact the police, she received no response or updates on the status of her
case. Frustrated and helpless, she turned to HHF for intervention.
HHF took up the matter promptly and filed a detailed
representation with the Dy. Superintendent of Police, Railway Sub
Division, Guntakal, on 25th August 2023. While we received an
initial response from the police on 3rd October 2023, the case
seemed to stall, with no further updates or action.
In February 2025, Mrs. Lakshmi Devi reached out to
HHF again, stating that her repeated phone calls to the police continued to go
unanswered. She expressed her frustration and helplessness, urging HHF to
intervene once more. Recognizing the urgency of the matter, HHF escalated the
issue by sending a strongly worded reminder to the SHO,
GRPS, Gooty, on 14th February 2025, followed by a registered
post on 15th February 2025.

registered as CC No. 143/2023 in the Special JFCM
Court, Railways, Guntakal.
HHF’s
Continued Support
Throughout the process, Mrs. Lakshmi Devi repeatedly approached HHF for
assistance, as she felt abandoned by the authorities. HHF’s role was not just
limited to pursuing the police but also providing emotional support and
guidance to the complainant. We advised her to seek suitable legal advice from
lawyers to proceed with filing a petition in the Special JFCM Court,
Guntakal, to obtain property return orders for the recovered jewelry.
HHF’s relentless follow-ups with the police and court officials
ensured that the case remained on track and that Mrs. Lakshmi Devi’s voice was
heard. Our efforts were driven by the belief that no one should be denied
justice due to bureaucratic delays or lack of responsiveness.
