How Systematic Persuasion Led to a Train Ticket Refund

Today, I am excited to
share a success story with all of you. It’s a testament to the power of
persistence and systematic advocacy.
Background
Mr. Somu Ravi Kumar, one of our associates, faced a frustrating situation. He had booked a train ticket on 29th October 2023, but due to an unfortunate train accident near Vishakhapatnam, the journey was canceled. Despite his efforts, obtaining a refund proved elusive. Following is the photocopy of Mr Somu Ravi Kumar explaining the facts and seeking our help.
The Railway
Authorities, in a letter dated 18th April 2024, categorically stated that
passengers must file an online TDR (Ticket Deposit Receipt) within three days
of cancellation or diversion of the train.
Upon reviewing Mr.
Kumar’s records, we recognized the need for social justice. Our Helping Hands
Foundation stepped in. We composed a persuasive email, urging the Railway
Authorities to reconsider the case and grant the refund. The following email was our way
of advocating for Mr. Kumar’s rights.
As expected, the
Railway authorities remained unresponsive. Undeterred, we followed our Helping
Hands policy. We sent a gentle reminder, as presented below, emphasizing the urgency of the matter.
Persistence pays off, and our reminder was no exception.
In response to our
follow-up, the Railway authorities finally relented. They sent a letter
confirming the refund for the canceled ticket. It was a victory for systematic
persuasion and unwavering commitment.
