Why RITUALS are essential ?
In our "Sharing & Caring" WhatsApp group,,,,,,,,,
one of my primary school classmate posed following topic, for discussion.
[9:39 PM, 4/29/2022] Hyd Talpasai:
In every religion, R Customs, traditions and culture created by our human beings or they were God made? Some argue they should necessarily followed or else consequences will be reaped. I observed now a days in the society they r becoming negligible. Even if they r not followed, nothing would happen to them. In kaliyuga, they r disappearing slowly. What do u say brother. Just for discussion.
[10:05 PM, 4/29/2022] Helping Hands Naseer:
Good point for discussion, My dear Brother.
I will respond leasurely, by tomorrow.
In the meanwhile, I request all our group members to share their views on this.
Regards.
For the discussion sake, I divide this topic into the following parts.
1. Why religious Customs and traditions are essential?
2. Why nothing happens to the persons, who are not following the rituals?
3. In Kaliyuga, the rituals are disappearing slowly.
1. Why religious Customs and traditions are essential?
RITUALs are created by the human beings, with "good intentions".
They are essential, to maintain certain discipline and formalities.
When we carefully examine, then we can find that -
there is some "logic" and scientific reasoning, behind any ritual's "original form".
Let me take the RAMZAAN Month fasting, as an example,, to explain.
During the month of RAMZAAN, Muslims all over the world, observe "fasting" for 29 to 30 days.
Fasting starts from morning 4.30AM[Approx.] to evening 6.30PM [Approx.], in India.
During this approximately "14 hours" fasting period,,,,,
consuming anything orally or through injections or in any other mode, is strictly prohibited.
There are many advantages with this one month fasting.
To quote few......
- It will clean the body systems, in a systematic way and drive away the unwanted elements.
- This was scientifically proved by the Noble Lariat Yoshino Ohsumi.
- Yoshinori Ohsumi was awarded 2016 year’s Nobel Prize in Medicine for his discoveries of mechanisms for autophagy – a study into how cells detoxify and repair themselves. in the following link one can watch the 3 minutes vide on this fact. https://youtu.be/Ws0mOmfC9EU
Like in Islam, in all other religions also, there are number of rituals,,,,,,,,
which are meant for the benefit of the human race.
Initially, they all were introduced to bring discipline, decorum, etc.,
among the believers of a religion.
Further, these rituals aim at the physical & psychological wellbeing.
In view of the above, RITUALs are essential.
2. Why nothing happens to the persons, who are not following the rituals?
As explained earlier, the Rituals are essential for our physical and psychological wellbeing.
The people who are NOT following the rituals will be definitely deprived of those benefits.
We may not see this apparently. But, when we closely observe the lifestyle of those people,
then we can see that - there is some psychological unrest, which is causing damage to their lives.
Any way let us not bother about others.
Let us follow our religious rituals scrupulously, so as to have PEACE in our life.
3. In Kaliyuga, the rituals are disappearing slowly.
I respectfully "disagree" with this statement.
As stated earlier, the rituals are created by the humans, for the welfare of the society.
However, with the passage of time, selfish people MODIFIED the rituals to their personal benefits.
Such rituals lost their sanctity and gradually disappeared.
This happened not only in Kaliyuga, but in the earlier yugas also.
In brief, RITUALs are essential for the welfare of the human beings. Whoever follows will have PEACE and non-followers [of the same religion] will be deprived of that benefit. Good rituals will continue to exist/survive and the rituals that were modified to meet the needs of selfish, will disappear.
