Verse 2:78

• Arabic: وَمِنْهُمْ أُمِّيُّونَ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ إِلَّآ أَمَانِىَّ وَإِنْ هُمْ إِلَّا يَظُنُّونَ
• Phonetic: Wa minhum ummiyyūna lā yaʿlamūnal-kitāba illā amāniyya wa in hum illā yaẓunnūn
• English Translation: And among them are unlettered ones who do not know the Scripture except wishful thinking, but they are only assuming.
• Telugu Meaning (సాధారణంగా మాట్లాడే తెలుగులో): వాళ్ళలో (ఇస్రాయీల్ సంతతిలో) కొంతమంది చదువు రానివాళ్ళున్నారు, వాళ్ళకు గ్రంథం గురించి కోరికలు, ఊహలు తప్ప ఏమీ తెలియదు, వాళ్ళు కేవలం ఊహించుకుంటారు.

Verse 2:79

• Arabic: فَوَيْلٌۭ لِّلَّذِينَ يَكْتُبُونَ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ بِأَيْدِيهِمْ ثُمَّ يَقُولُونَ هَٰذَا مِنْ عِندِ ٱللَّهِ لِيَشْتَرُوا۟ بِهِۦ ثَمَنًۭا قَلِيلًۭا ۖ فَوَيْلٌۭ لَّهُم مِّمَّا كَتَبَتْ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَوَيْلٌۭ لَّهُم مِّمَّا يَكْسِبُونَ
• Phonetic: Fawaylul lilladhīna yaktubūnal-kitāba biʾaydīhim thumma yaqūlūna hādhā min ʿindillāhi liyashtarū bihi thamanan qalīlan ۖ fawaylul lahum mimmā katabat aydīhim wa waylul lahum mimmā yaksibūn
• English Translation: So woe to those who write the Scripture with their own hands, then say, "This is from Allah," in order to exchange it for a small price. Woe to them for what their hands have written and woe to them for what they earn.
• Telugu Meaning (సాధారణంగా మాట్లాడే తెలుగులో): కాబట్టి, తమ చేతులతో గ్రంథాన్ని రాసి, "ఇది అల్లాహ్ నుండి వచ్చింది" అని చెప్పి, దానికి బదులుగా తక్కువ ధరకు అమ్ముకునే వారికి వినాశనం. వారి చేతులు రాసినదానికి వారికి వినాశనం, వారు సంపాదించినదానికి వారికి వినాశనం.

Verse 2:80

• Arabic: وَقَالُوا۟ لَن تَمَسَّنَا ٱلنَّارُ إِلَّآ أَيَّامًۭا مَّعْدُودَةًۭ ۚ قُلْ أَتَّخَذْتُمْ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ عَهْدًۭا فَلَن يُخْلِفَ ٱللَّهُ عَهْدَهُۥٓ ۖ أَمْ تَقُولُونَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ
• Phonetic: Wa qālū lan tamassanā an-nāru illā ayyāmam maʿdūdah ۚ qul attakhadhtum ʿindallāhi ʿahdan falan yukhlifallāhu ʿahdahū ۖ am taqūlūna ʿalallāhi mā lā taʿlamūn
• English Translation: And they say, "Never will the Fire touch us except for a few days." Say, "Have you taken a covenant from Allah? For Allah will never break His covenant. Or do you say about Allah that which you do not know?"
• Telugu Meaning (సాధారణంగా మాట్లాడే తెలుగులో): వాళ్ళు, "నరకాగ్ని మమ్మల్ని కొన్ని రోజులు మాత్రమే తాకుతుంది" అంటారు. నువ్వు చెప్పు, "మీరు అల్లాహ్ నుండి ఏదైనా ఒప్పందం తీసుకున్నారా? అల్లాహ్ తన ఒప్పందాన్ని ఎప్పటికీ ఉల్లంఘించడు. లేదా మీకు తెలియనిది అల్లాహ్ గురించి చెబుతున్నారా?"

Verse 2:81

• Arabic: بَلَىٰ مَن كَسَبَ سَيِّئَةًۭ وَأَحَٰطَتْ بِهِۦ خَطِيٓـَٔتُهُۥ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلنَّارِ ۖ هُمْ فِيهَا خَٰلِدُونَ
• Phonetic: Balā man kasaba sayyiʾataw wa aḥāṭat bihi khaṭīʾatuhū faʾulāʾika aṣḥābun-nārī hum fīhā khālidūn
• English Translation: Yes, whoever earns evil and is surrounded by his sin — those are the companions of the Fire; they will abide therein eternally.
• Telugu Meaning (సాధారణంగా మాట్లాడే తెలుగులో): అవును, ఎవరైతే పాపం చేసి, ఆ పాపం వాళ్ళను పూర్తిగా చుట్టుముడుతుందో — వారే నరకాగ్నివాసులు; వారు అందులో శాశ్వతంగా ఉంటారు.

Verse 2:82

• Arabic: وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْجَنَّةِ ۖ هُمْ فِيهَا خَٰلِدُونَ
• Phonetic: Wa alladhīna āmanū wa ʿamiluṣ-ṣāliḥāti ulāʾika aṣḥābul-jannah ۖ hum fīhā khālidūn
• English Translation: But those who believe and do righteous deeds — those are the companions of Paradise; they will abide therein eternally.
• Telugu Meaning (సాధారణంగా మాట్లాడే తెలుగులో): కానీ ఎవరైతే విశ్వసించి, మంచి పనులు చేస్తారో — వారే స్వర్గవాసులు; వారు అందులో శాశ్వతంగా ఉంటారు.

Verse 2:83

• Arabic: وَإِذْ أَخَذْنَا مِيثَٰقَ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ لَا تَعْبُدُونَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهَ وَبِٱلْوَٰلِدَيْنِ إِحْسَانًۭا وَذِى ٱلْقُرْبَىٰ وَٱلْيَتَٰمَىٰ وَٱلْمَسَٰكِينِ وَقُولُوا۟ لِلنَّاسِ حُسْنًۭا وَأَقِيمُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتُوا۟ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ ثُمَّ تَوَلَّيْتُمْ إِلَّا قَلِيلًۭا مِّنكُمْ وَأَنتُم مُّعْرِضُونَ
• Phonetic: Wa idh akhadhnā mīthāqa Banī Isrāʾīla lā taʿbudūna illallāha wa bil-wālidayni iḥsānaw wa dhil-qurbā wal-yatāmā wal-masākīni wa qūlū linnāsi ḥusnaw wa aqīmū aṣ-ṣalāta wa ātū az-zakāta thumma tawallaytum illā qalīlam minkum wa antum muʿriḍūn
• English Translation: And [recall] when We took the covenant from the Children of Israel, [saying], "Do not worship except Allah; and to parents do good; and to relatives, orphans, and the needy. And speak to people good [words] and establish prayer and give zakah." Then you turned away, except a few of you, and you were refusing.
• Telugu Meaning (సాధారణంగా మాట్లాడే తెలుగులో): ఇస్రాయీల్ సంతతి నుండి మేము ఒప్పందం తీసుకున్నప్పుడు గుర్తుచేసుకోండి, [చెబుతూ], "అల్లాహ్‌ను తప్ప మరొకరిని ఆరాధించకండి; తల్లిదండ్రులకు మంచి చేయండి; బంధువులకు, అనాథలకు, పేదలకూ మంచి చేయండి. మరియు ప్రజలతో మంచి మాటలు మాట్లాడండి, నమాజ్ స్థాపించండి మరియు జకాత్ (దానధర్మాలు) ఇవ్వండి." ఆ తర్వాత మీలో కొద్దిమంది తప్ప మిగిలినవారంతా వెనక్కి తిరిగిపోయారు, మరియు మీరు తిరస్కరించేవారై ఉన్నారు.

Verse 2:84

• Arabic: وَإِذْ أَخَذْنَا مِيثَٰقَكُمْ لَا تَسْفِكُونَ دِمَآءَكُمْ وَلَا تُخْرِجُونَ أَنفُسَكُم مِّن دِيَٰرِكُمْ ثُمَّ أَقْرَرْتُمْ وَأَنتُمْ تَشْهَدُونَ
• Phonetic: Wa idh akhadhnā mīthāqakum lā tasfikūna dimāʾakum wa lā tukhrijūna anfusakum min diyārikum thumma aqrartum wa antum tashhadūn
• English Translation: And [recall] when We took your covenant, [saying], "You shall not shed each other's blood or evict one another from your homes." Then you acknowledged [this] while you were witnessing.
• Telugu Meaning (సాధారణంగా మాట్లాడే తెలుగులో): మేము మీ నుండి ఒప్పందం తీసుకున్నప్పుడు గుర్తుచేసుకోండి, [చెబుతూ], "మీరు ఒకరికొకరు రక్తాన్ని చిందించకూడదు మరియు మీ ఇళ్ళ నుండి ఒకరినొకరు వెళ్ళగొట్టకూడదు." అప్పుడు మీరు దాన్ని అంగీకరించారు, మీరు దానికి సాక్షులుగా ఉన్నారు.

Verse 2:85

• Arabic: ثُمَّ أَنتُمْ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ تَقْتُلُونَ أَنفُسَكُمْ وَتُخْرِجُونَ فَرِيقًۭا مِّنكُم مِّن دِيَٰرِهِمْ تَظَٰهَرُونَ عَلَيْهِم بِٱلْإِثْمِ وَٱلْعُدْوَٰنِ وَإِن يَأْتُوكُمْ أُسَٰرَىٰ تُفَٰدُوهُمْ وَهُوَ مُحَرَّمٌ عَلَيْكُمْ إِخْرَاجُهُمْ ۚ أَفَتُؤْمِنُونَ بِبَعْضِ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ وَتَكْفُرُونَ بِبَعْضٍۢ ۚ فَمَا جَزَآءُ مَن يَفْعَلُ ذَٰلِكَ مِنكُمْ إِلَّا خِزْىٌۭ فِى ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا ۖ وَيَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ يُرَدُّونَ إِلَىٰٓ أَشَدِّ ٱلْعَذَابِ ۗ وَمَا ٱللَّهُ بِغَٰفِلٍ عَمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ
• Phonetic: Thumma antum hāʾulāʾi taqtulūna anfusakum wa tukhrijūna farīqam minkum min diyārihim taẓāharūna ʿalayhim bil-ithmi wal-ʿudwāni wa in yaʾtūkūm usārā tufādūhum wa huwa muḥarramun ʿalaykum ikhrājuhum ۚ afatuʾminūna bibaʿḍil-kitābi wa takfurūna bibaʿḍ ۚ famā jazāʾu man yafʿalu dhālika minkum illā khizyun fil-ḥayātiddunyā ۖ wa yawmal-qiyāmati yuraddūna ilā ashaddil-ʿadhāb ۗ wa mallāhu bighāfilin ʿammā taʿmalūn
• English Translation: Then, you are those who kill one another and evict a party of your people from their homes, cooperating against them in sin and aggression. And if they come to you as captives, you ransom them, although their eviction was forbidden to you. So do you believe in part of the Scripture and disbelieve in part? Then what is the recompense of those who do that among you except disgrace in worldly life? And on the Day of Resurrection they will be remanded to the severest punishment. And Allah is not unaware of what you do.

Verse 2:86

• Arabic: أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱشْتَرَوُا۟ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا بِٱلْءَاخِرَةِ ۖ فَلَا يُخَفَّفُ عَنْهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ وَلَا هُمْ يُنصَرُونَ
• Phonetic: Ulāʾikalladhīnash-tarawul-ḥayātad-dunyā bil-ākhirah ۖ falā yukhaffafu ʿanhumul-ʿadhābu wa lā hum yunṣarūn
• English Translation: Those are the ones who have bought the worldly life [in exchange] for the Hereafter, so the punishment will not be lightened for them, nor will they be aided.
• Telugu Meaning (సాధారణంగా మాట్లాడే తెలుగులో): వారే పరలోకానికి బదులుగా ప్రాపంచిక జీవితాన్ని కొనుక్కున్నవాళ్ళు, కాబట్టి వారికి శిక్ష తగ్గించబడదు, వారికి ఎలాంటి సహాయమూ లభించదు.

Verse 2:87

• Arabic: وَلَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَا مُوسَى ٱلْكِتَٰبَ وَقَفَّيْنَا مِنۢ بَعْدِهِۦ بِٱلرُّسُلِ ۖ وَءَاتَيْنَا عِيسَى ٱبْنَ مَرْيَمَ ٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ وَأَيَّدْنَٰهُ بِرُوحِ ٱلْقُدُسِ ۗ أَفَكُلَّمَا جَآءَكُمْ رَسُولٌۢ بِمَا لَا تَهْوَىٰٓ أَنفُسُكُمُ ٱسْتَكْبَرْتُمْ فَفَرِيقًۭا كَذَّبْتُمْ وَفَرِيقًۭا تَقْتُلُونَ
• Phonetic: Wa laqad ātainā Mūsal-Kitāba wa qaffaynā mim baʿdihī bir-rusul ۖ wa ātainā ʿĪsabna Maryamal-Bayyināti wa ayyadnāhu birūḥil-qudus ۗ afakullamā jāʾakum rasūlum bimā lā tahwā anfusukumustakbartum fafarīqan kadhdhabtum wa farīqan taqtulūn
• English Translation: And We did certainly give Moses the Scripture and followed up after him with messengers. And We gave Jesus, the son of Mary, clear proofs and supported him with the Pure Spirit [Gabriel]. Is it that whenever a messenger comes to you, [O Jews], with what your souls do not desire, you become arrogant, and a party [of messengers] you deny and another party you kill?
