Q & A - 1: How much money is needed to be HAPPY
Q: If we have little "more" money, then we will be "more" happy. To what extent this is right?
A: Let us take a hypothetical (imaginary) example of an organization, where the Management tells to the staff, "Instead of paying the excess Income Tax unnecessarily, we want to increase your salaries, as per your wish. Inform us, how much hike in your salary, you want this year?????"
When the day come to write an application for the above, you wrote as Rs. 10,000 hike in salary you need, for this year.
On the salary day you found that you have got a hike of Rs. 12,000.
You feel very happy, go to home and tell to your near & dear "my organization has recognized my services and I am very happy for it".
After 2 days, you came to know from the collogues that, one of your colleague of your same cadre, has got a hike of Rs. 15,000.
That day you will be very unhappy. You go home and tell that - " There is no place for good people, persons doing chamchagiri got higher salaries, etc, etc, etc".
What has happened?
Actually,,,,,,,,,,,,,, you wanted a rise of Rs. 10,000 and you got 12,000 hike.
When someone of your cadre got 15,000 hike, your earlier happiness is turned to sadness.
Suddenly something changed outside and you are unhappy.
So whether you have to be happy or unhappy is being depending NOT on your own mind or possessions, but on something else.
It means, comparison with others has become the cause of your happiness/unhappiness, than your original possessions, achievements, etc, etc.
Your friends / neighbors / relatives a bigger house or better assets, etc, etc, are becoming the causes for your happiness/unhappiness, in general.
In such state of mind, can any one be happy continuously, though he got everything, which is sufficient to meet his needs, by all means?
Just think on this and let me know your response please, my dear.
Regards,
Abdul Naseer.
